Bella

Bella loves to get inside things. Boxes, the fridge, the kitchen cupboards. She took it upon herself to claim  these boxes and packaging after a delivery. I've never seen anything look so dignified sitting atop a pile of trash.

A black and white photograph

This photograph is really about the hair. I like the high contrast black and white and also the contrast between the soft background and skin and the harder, sharper texture of the hair.

Baby Vienna from Colorado

Here are a couple of shots from a trip to Colorado. I love shooting babies.. no wait.. I love taking photographs of babies (that sounds much better). All joking aside, babies are great because they tend to be very photogenic and, more often than not, haven't learnt debilitating traits like self consciousness or fussiness over how they're represented. If they have something to do they're mostly pretty happy and almost every movement can be interpreted as a pose.

Cakeballs

Cake Ball Love is a San Diego based company that specializes in making cake balls and cake pops. I saw (and ate) some of these at a pizza place I was doing a shoot for a few months ago and couldn't resist getting a shot of them. They are amazing! If you're in the area, you should hunt some down.

Dave and his orange

 Dave Matheke is a Noise artist, circuit bender and fine artist based in Los Angeles. He owns the Label 'Love Torture' Records through which he releases some amazing sounds. Flower at Botanical Gardens, Balboa Park

Shot at Balboa Park Botanical Garden in San Diego. I'm not sure of the genus of this plant or if I can even technically call it a flower, I'll be sure to post the info as soon as I find out. I love the contrast of textures.

Christmas

Shot just over a year ago at a Christmas party. I really like how animated the shot is. I have been trying to think of something funny to say about this photo for 5 minutes now, I think I'll just let the image speak for itself and post it.

Cats on the Internet

This is a candid shot of a friend's neighbor's cat. I shot this with a 35mm lens, it's amazing that I got the shot being so close. The striking ice-blue eyes are something I really like about this image.

Making coffee, 5am

Up very early this morning making coffee. I like the low light and cold color spectrum. This photo was shot with fairly high iso and has a substantial amount of grain, which I quite like about it.

Portrait

This is a headshot I took for a faculty member and Acupuncturist at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in Mission Valley.

I used a Nikon SB-600 flash unit to bounce the light for these photographs.

Ladera St. Stairs.

Stairs at Ladera St. in Ocean Beach. Surfers use these stairs to get to a point where they can paddle out. I think they have interesting geometry.

These photographs were taken over a two day period a few months ago on a trip from South San Diego to the Mojave Desert. Some of the mountains you can see in a couple of the shots are in Mexico.
